This means today is the major preparation day. Straw and food and boots are being delivered to checkpoints along the trail. We took a flight seeing tour today to see Mt McKinley (Denali), the Ruth glacier – just the glacier is 3-4000 feet deep, and an initial checkpoint preparing for the arrival of the athletes. Downtown, because it’s warm and there’s no snow, they are spreading snow on 4th Ave so the teams can run through town. The beauty here is amazing. There is an incredible history of Native American people and their arrival across the land bridge centuries ago. Even then, dogs were blanketed and included in their lives. Can a snowmobile replace a dog? Which smells better? Sounds better? Gives joy?
